Uncle Trent has many stories to tell and he learned to craft his skill as a musician's musician, playing dancehalls since he was a teen. Trent has been involved in the music business since joining his dad’s band back in 1993.

Trent watched his dad from a very young age, sit at the kitchen table and write songs. He always had a pot of coffee, a lit cigarette and an old tape recorder. Trent would hide in the next room and listen to the stories his dad would create. His love of music and storytelling would eventually inspire him to start composing his own songs. Trent has produced two albums for his father’s band Duster, as well as his own solo projects. Trent continues to record himself as well as mentoring new artists. Trent's mission is to use his art to express the human experience; raw, witty and unwavering.

Since the pandemic Trent has looked for alternative ways to tell stories. He has also voiced two audio books for Durville Publishing, and he has re-energized his do-it-yourself attitude by creating two podcasts, with the help of longtime friend Curt Young.

The most recent podcast Curt and Trent created is The Deadly Uncle Podcast. The Deadly Uncle Podcast was created as a safe space to connect Indigenous men and boys to their culture and communities. Join Curt Young and Trent Agecoutay as they talk to "Deadly Uncles" in the Indigenous Community.

Each podcast promotes belonging and social inclusion to support the physical and mental wellbeing of Indigenous men and boys. With the support of the Edmonton Arts Council, and Canada Council for the Arts, Trent and Curt have successfully interviewed 40 “Deadly Uncles”.

In the past Trent has been nominated for awards at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, the Native American Music Awards, the Indian Summer Music Awards, the Indigenous Music Awards, the 2023 Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards and most recently the 2024 Native American Music Awards.
